An older version of the modern nyckelharpa. Adopted by the Viking Scene as being a Viking instrument, but in actual fact is based on an instrument from 1526. But it’s cool and makes people think of Vikings anyway! The oldest statue of a keyed fiddle is on the island of Gotland and dates to 1350.
